If you’ve been invited to a fall wedding, you might be scrambling for a wedding-appropriate and also weather-appropriate outfit to wear. You might be thinking the dress is the obligatory choice, but the jumpsuit has proven to earn top marks in being an outfit that can be dressed up, dressed down, glam, or casual. It’s a versatile choice for any event, and if you’re in a last-minute crunch for an outfit, take a peek at this list for fun, wedding guest jumpsuits for fall!
When you first receive a wedding invitation, you’re likely excited and stoked for your friends/family tying the knot! But as the event gets closer, you start to wonder: what the heck am I going to wear to this thing?
If you’re like me, you probably feel the pressure of wearing the “right” thing for the wedding. And sometimes, the dress code isn’t totally clear. Couple that with possible weather issues and you have a recipe for a slight sartorial crisis.
I’ve been there. It’s stressful. And the last thing we want you thinking about is your outfit choice while you’re just trying to have a good time and clink some champagne glasses! If you’re not super keen on wearing a dress, either because of the weather or because you just don’t want to (do you, sister!), then this list of the best wedding guest dresses fall is for you!
As with anything, there’s a couple things to consider when choosing your Fit:
Fabric
An important tip, especially for outdoor weddings, is to consider the fabric choice. If you go with a polyester, for example, you might be sweating your little bum off if the October outdoor wedding that you’re expecting to be a breezy 60 degrees ends up being 90 and humid.
Also, fabric choice doesn’t just come down to your personal comfort either (although that’s important). A heavier fabric will always read autumn/winter over spring/summer. If you really want to lean into those autumnal vibes, consider velvets, brocades, twills, tweed.
And let’s not forget a little sparkle! The perfect wedding season to maybe recycle that sparkly blazer you got for NYE or that sequin jumpsuit you’re not sure where to wear, is fall/winter! Rock those sparkles if you have ’em! Why not? YOLO.

Color
Just like fabric, color is another element to consider when attending a fall (or any season) wedding. For fall and winter weddings, darker colors are a great choice. The beauty of attending a wedding in these seasons, though, is the opportunity to layer. If you fall in love with an outfit you like but it’s a lighter color, maybe layer it with a darker-colored blazer to make it more Fall.
And of course, if you’re a child of the night, black is a totally fair choice to wear to any wedding.
Silhouette
This is perhaps the most personal of the three things to consider in an outfit, and that’s mostly because of comfort. The worst choice you can make, regardless of any color or fabric choice, is opting for an outfit that you feel weird in.
I’ve been there and let me tell you: it’s horrible. There is honestly nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in what you’re wearing. An uncomfortable outfit is the total Debbie Downer of the event… and no one invited her.
And when I talk about comfort, I’m talking both in the literal and emotional sense. If you try on an outfit and something is poking weird or pulling weird and you have to smooth it here and pull it down here, ditch that thing. You don’t want to fuss with your clothing the whole night. On the flipside, if something fits you fine but it just doesn’t feel right with you, or you feel self-conscious in it, don’t bother with it. If you’re like me, you might already feel awkward as a guest– don’t make it worse by choosing an outfit that doesn’t feel like you.

So those are my top picks for wedding guest jumpsuits fall. Whatever your style or budget, there are lots of options out there when you’re looking for something to wear that’s an alternative to a dress.
The last thing to note here is that hey, I know life happens and sometimes you’re in a bind, which is why this list is all from our favorite click-n-go retailer, but it should be mentioned that whenever possible, please try to shop secondhand and local. It’s just better and nicer and cooler to support your local economy (and your planet) whenever you can.
Ok and one more note: don’t feel pressured to buy something new for every wedding you attend! It can be overwhelming and it’s unreasonable for anyone to have a closet full of one-time outfits! Don’t be afraid to shop your closet. The upside to fall and winter weddings is you have the ability to layer, so have some fun with what you have!
Now go have fun at that wedding, you well-dressed guest, you!
